Really I think we should start with potentially the most exciting update and that is that European gamers will be able to get their land loving hands on Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag earlier than originally stated. That’s right the release date is actually coming forward, that’s a thing apparently! Gamers can expect to see Edward Kenway on October 29th, which will fall in with the North America release. This change in date is only for the Xbox 360 and PS3, so PC players will still have to wait.
On to the next matter, the above video. The Edward Kenway Story Trailer. From young Privateer, to Pirate and then Assassin. The video gives us a glimpse of what to expect from Edward in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag.
The year is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic where corruption, greediness and cruelty are commonplace.
Among these outlaws is a brash young captain named Edward Kenway. His fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built.
Welcome to the Golden Age of Piracy.
Edward was born in Wales in 1693, and we will by the looks of it be picking up his story at the age of 22. He’s a long way from home but I’m sure with the help of Pirate Legend, Blackbeard he won’t go too astray. It’s only a little debauchery after all.
The third and final segment to this is the announcement that the progression system will be the fullest yet. On the official Ubisoft Blog they quoted Game Director, Ashraf Ismail saying “We have something previous Assassin’s Creeds didn’t, which is progression,”. To add more depth and a better experience to Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag players won’t be able to get too big for their boots, both on land and the open sea. The Jackdaw, is almost a second main character in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag so taking care of it and upgrading it where appropriate is of the utmost importance. “We have enemies that will destroy you in two seconds at the beginning of the game, If you face a Man-of-War, you’re toast.” Ismail said, upgrading your ship won’t be straight forward either. Edward will have to travel to areas to obtain blueprints to then allow him to purchase the upgrade. Money as always will play a massive role but it’s these ‘obstacles’ that will really help make Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag a better all round game.
Let me know what you think of the new release date for Europe, as well as you thoughts on the trailer and new progression elements!
