Rock Band 4 Will be Co-published by Mad Catz

Gaming peripheral company Mad Catz played a key part in getting Rock Band back together..

When Rock Band 4 was announced last month, we knew the developers Harmonix had partnered with Mad Catz for the next set of Rock Band controllers, but it seems that it’s much more than that as Mad Catz has today announced that the peripheral manufacturer has extended the agreement with Harmonix to be co-publishers for the game on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

The partnership will see Mad Catz handling global retail sales, promotion, and distribution of Rock Band 4 game and hardware bundles when it eventually launches later this year, and Harmonix will be in control of all digital sales and content. Mad Catz will of course be developing the new controllers for the game and support for the old instruments is still being worked on by Sony and Microsoft.

“Since the announcement of Rock Band 4, we’ve been thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response of passionate fans and gamers worldwide. The time is right to re-introduce the franchise to the new generation of consoles and our co-publishing agreement is a natural extension of the excellent relationship both companies share in realizing that vision,” said Mad Catz President and CEO Darren Richardson. “We’re excited to extend our agreement with Harmonix, and are confident that Mad Catz’ global sales force, distribution channels and retail marketing expertise will deliver the retail success we believe Rock Band 4 will achieve in 2015 and beyond.”

As for Harmonix, they’re pretty happy too with Product Manager Daniel Sussman saying that they “couldn’t be happier to be working closely with Mad Catz to deliver Rock Band 4 on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 to a worldwide audience this year,” and that the game itself will be providing access to over 2,000 tracks via DLC and will integrate much of the music you already own through previous games.

So there you have it, Harmonix and Mad Catz have brought the band back together again.
