European Cosplay Gathering Chooses EGX 2015 for UK Competition

Cosplay is going to be a bigger focus than ever at this year’s EGX as the European Cosplay Gathering is holding a competition for UK consplayers

Cosplay has always had a presence at EGX, but this year is set to be the biggest yet, with the European Cosplay Gathering not only attending the event, but holding a UK competition for those who love to cosplay. In fact, the UK preliminaries will be held for the first time at Septembers event at the NEC in Birmingham.

With a total of 11 European countries participating in the European Cosplay Gathering competition, one of the largest cosplay events on the continent. The UK Preliminaries, which will be held on the dedicated EGX cosplay stage, takes place on Sunday 27, the final day of the event, and is open to all permanent UK residents and UK passport-holders age 17 and up. Whether it’s video games, comics, or anime, the European Cosplay Gathering encourages all style of cosplay and costuming come and participate.

The winner of said Preliminary will be awarded an “all expenses” trip to the finals at the Japan Expo, which will be held in Paris in July 2016. Those wanting to attend are encouraged to keep an eye on the EGX 2015 website for the dedicated EGX cosplay section, which will open from June onwards.

In addition to the UK Preliminaries, the return of the EGX Cosplay Championship, in association with Zonic Productions, will be held the day before on Saturday 26. The EGX Cosplay Championship is the UK gaming community’s largest cosplay contest with tons of entries being made every year. This year we’ll get to see some high-profile judges from the cosplay community as well as a high-value mystery prize being offered. Cosplayers can register for the competition at the show’s cosplay desk at least two hours prior to the competition. Entry requirements will be available on the EGX website or by emailing EGX.

Don’t forget there’ll also be the EGX 2015 cosplay stage which will have activity running throughout the four days of the show. More information and a full activity schedule is set to revealed in the coming weeks and months.
