Update: It’s official! Infinity Ward and Activision has announced the full details as well as a brand new trailer highlighting the new maps! Read more here.
It looks like GameStop have accidentally revealed details of the first Call of Duty: Ghosts map pack via an in-store display and poster which reveals the name of the four multiplayer maps, a new multiplayer weapon, and of course the first instalment of the Extinction story as well as the expected date of release.
Fog, Bay View, Containment, and Ignition are the first four downloadable maps set to come to Call of Duty: Ghosts on the 28th of January – first on Xbox Live according to the poster. The image, as usual, is a little blurry so not a lot can be made out from the poster.. Fog, is foggy, Bay View seems to contain a light house and looks a little like the existing Ghosts map, Siege, Containment looks a little, P.O.W. camp, and Ignition looks like another industrial area similar to Freight.
According to the poster, like with Black Ops II, Infinity Ward plan on releasing a bonus weapon on the form of the Maverick AR & Sniper Rifle – let’s hope it’s a good one as I’m getting a little frustrated with the current arsenal of weapons..
Finally the first Extinction episode titled “Nightfall” is set to launch in amongst the DLC map pack. This would match up with previous Treyarch offerings with their much loved Zombies mode.
If the poster is legitimate, the Onslaught DLC is expected to launch first on Xbox Live on January 28 and will most likely cost the usual £10-12. The time frame for the release of the DLC sounds about right, but it’s probably best to take this with a pinch of salt until Activision announce something, probably within the next week or so.
