Today is a pretty cool day for me, It’s been a year since my first post and guess what! It was Assassin’s Creed related back then too, what a shock.

The above video was uploaded to the Assassin’s Creed YouTube channel yesterday and is narrated by Game Director – Ashraf Ismail. The vidoe focus’ on what it’s going to be like to be Edward Kenway, a Pirate Assassin in Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag. From the very beginning of the video you can’t help but notice just how beautiful the surroundings look, and from there the video just gets better.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black FlagAs you can expect from a Pirate themed game, there’s going to be a massive emphasis on loot and treasure, and how do you normally find treasure? Yes, maps. From the video we see a treasure map and I like the fact that it just shows you a set of pictures to guide you. Not an actual map location which makes finding the goods a little bit more rewarding. To get through the large game map you’re going to need the Jackdaw, Edwards ship. Upgrading the ship is key to surviving the seas, and through finding that treasure you’ll be able to get upgrades for your ship. It’s like one big circle. Whilst traveling you’ll often come across other ships already deep in battle, you can join in or pass. It’s completely up to you.

If you find a ship sailing on it’s own it’ll be a good idea to attack it as your going to need the cargo it’s carrying. Take down the ship and destroy the mast, then you can board it. Guns blazing like a Pirate or climb up and attack from above like an Assassin. Again, the choice is yours. Once the Captain is dead you then have a choice to make. Recruit willing members of the fallen ship to your crew; capture the ship and have it in your fleet; or Salvage it for parts if the battle has damaged the Jackdaw.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black FlagNot all battles are fought on the sea with ships. There are also forts to worry about, they’ll make your passing impossible with cannon fire. So the only option is to return fire.  Once you have taken down the main artillery you can attack within the Fort with the help of your crew, leave none alive and as soon as the Fort Master is killed, you own the Fort. Owning Forts will open new side missions and will also attack enemies that pass within it’s range in the future.

There is still more to come from Ubisoft on Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, but I think so far we can see that there is a lot of choice of how you want to play the game.

Let me know what you think of the video and all the information with it in the comments below!
