No one is quite sure what the state is on Prey 2. Bethesda’s PR Vice President Pete Hines made a few comments on the actions of Bethesda and the development process for this game. “You don’t just keep throwing money at something or going down a path that you’re not happy about,” Hines explained. “You have to make tough choices. Again, when we have more info on it, we’ll be happy to talk about it. That’s what I can say for now.” We know either Prey 2 is either on a major shift in production, or it could be cancelled all together.
Hines also stated,
“We appreciate that folks are displeased that we haven’t had any update or any info onPrey 2, but whatever your displeasure is, you can’t even be remotely as unhappy about it as us,” Hines said. “We spent years and millions of dollars and a ton of effort trying to help [developer] Human Head make a great Prey 2 game. What we said the last time we said anything was that it’s not up to our quality standards.”
We all know when Human Heads had the project they came upon some major setbacks and development seemed to have come to a standstill in late 2011, and that’s when the publishers at Bethesda stepped in and took over the project. Rumors spread last month that Arkane Austin, developers of the hit, Dishonored, took over the troubled project.
Whatever the case may be, I am sure that if Bethesda has there hands on it, it is bound to have great success. But at the same time if the developers, whoever they are, don’t get on the ball, no one will have a new Prey title in their hands.
