As a (kind of) web developer myself, I know how important it is to have everything in place so when it’s “go time” I can click a button, refresh a page, and everything launches at once. What I don’t have difficulties with are people snooping at random URLS to try and find something interesting; Something that the web developers on the Assassin’s Creed IV count down page didn’t take into consideration..
It’s only been a few days since Ubisoft released the box art for the next Assassin’s Creed title; Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag as well as details for their big launch event on March 4th, but now it seems that the web site with the countdown for the launch event also had a “hidden” pre-order page that someone managed to find just by typing in ‘v’ at the end of the url (http://assassinscreed.us.ubi.com/announce/#) - unfortunately it doesn’t work any more it just re-directs to the AC3 website but someone managed to grab a quick screen:
Whether this is genuine or not it remains to be seen but a few things add up such as the 29th of October is a Tuesday, and it’s one day off of last years Assassin’s Creed 3 release date. The mention of pre-orders receiving a Todd McFarlane collectable poster could be about the earlier leak of the promotional poster with the map on the back which if true, it’s making this seem even more genuine.. Also, if it is the real deal, expect Assassin’s Creed IV to come to next gen consoles too which is a plus.
