For almost 17 weeks we’ve been teased with images of Team Meats epic new game that involved more cats than I can remember, we’ve seen cooky characters, game play concepts, and lots of cats that turned out didn’t actually resemble the appearance of the cats in the actual game. Yesterday however Edmund McMillen revealed on the Team Meat blog more details and (sort of) what Mew-Genics is all about..
“I think most would describe Mew-Genics as a cross between The Sims and Pokemon with a sprinkling of Animal Crossing and a dash of Tamagochi” Edmund began. He then went on to explain that “it isn’t like anything we’ve ever seen before”. Sounds interesting, right?
The game itself really does sound something quite out of the ordinary, Edmund wrote that it was kind of a complex game to explain so he treated us to a little story sort of explaining the game. You can read that here.
So what is the game about? A little of everything really, mainly cat breeding though. In Edmunds story he writes about finding the right mate for his cat Puddle, the first cat wasn’t up to scratch and died, the second one happened to be narcoleptic and as a result Puddles kittens were also narcoleptic.
The characters we saw before also offer help with your cats as Puddle ended up falling ill and needed the help of Dr. Beanies, but couldn’t afford the treatment. Each character also offers missions for you to do also which I assume gives you cash to buy food, medicine, and a whole host of other cat related stuff.
So the announcement/reveal didn’t go into too much detail about the game, but from the looks of it it’s going to be pretty awesome and involve a lot of hours of game play! I mean, who doesn’t want a house full of quirky cats??
